Here’s how it works: On October 1, names of participating musicians are drawn from a hat—five at a time—to create brand-new bands, no matter the mix. Five drummers? That’s a band. Two acapella singers, a ukulelist, and a death metal guitarist? Still a band. Two bassists, a bassoonist, and someone who’s never played a show in their life? Absolutely a band.
Each group has just one month to write and rehearse 10 minutes of original music, then take the stage in front of a live audience. It’s chaotic, it’s creative, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun.
One band will win a prize—but everyone walks away with stories.
