Mokai is a folk-blues performer known for his original tunes, with songs that draw on authentic traditional styles. He has performed at cafes, clubs, house concerts and festivals, and in institutions with the non-profit Bread and Roses. He's released several albums of original and traditional music.
After spending his youth as an environmental activist, Mokai came down from his tree and began writing unforgettable songs that find their way into your heart. The East Bay Express called them “…jazzy, jammy, bluesy structures around earthly laments, tales of ordinary folks, and the human struggle in general.”
Mokai (rhymes with woke-eye) has taken root in the Northern California music community. His third full-length album “The Jaybird Said (2019),” is produced by James Nash (Waybacks). It features songs that demonstrate considerable songwriting skills. His current releases explore story-telling and social commentary.
James Nash has something undeniable to those who witness it, leading reviewers to describe him as "graceful but fiery... elegant and colorful... rampantly eclectic" (Guitar Player Magazine), and praise his “near-ideal balance of irreverence, chops, discipline, and originality” (Chicago Tribune). Heralded by Acoustic Guitar Magazine as a “revered new-acoustician,” he approaches the flat-top steel-string guitar with both the subtleties and bravado of a rock guitarist.
James has performed across the country with his band The Waybacks and served as bandleader for ensembles with the likes of Elvis Costello, Emmylou Harris, Bela Fleck, Bob Weir, and Chris Thile. Guitar Player Magazine listed him among the top 50 acoustic guitarists. He's had his music featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered.
James accompanies Mokai on lead guitar, slide guitar, mandolin and harmony vocals.

Singer-songwriter Maggie Forti has made countless friends in the music community. Her music blends "folk-rock, Celtic, soul, and New Grass idioms to buoy Forti’s soaring, sometimes gospel-tinged voice which hints of Maria Muldaur and Rickie Lee Jones." Derk Richardson/KPFA
The founder of Wildcat Canyon and Three Rivers Band has professional music credits, collaborations and projects that span decades. She’s played all over the country, including at the High Sierra Music Festival Troubadour Sessions.
With a B.A. from Berklee College of music, Maggie is a highly creative, innovative improvisor. She’s a performer, singer-songwriter, recording artist, studio session vocalist, a music teacher, and a women's vocal workshop facilitator. Her 2019 CD, Travelin’ On, features her well-crafted songs, rhythmic guitar playing and soulful, gorgeous vocals.
