Kirk Duplantis Trio at Waystone

Originally from Louisiana, Kirk Duplantis cut his teeth in the vibrant New Orleans music scene, performing with many of the city’s top jazz, blues, rock, and R&B groups. He earned a B.A. in Jazz Studies from the University of New Orleans and went on to form his own contemporary jazz quintet. Kirk has toured extensively across the U.S. as a member of the New Orleans-based indie rock band Mighty Brother and can be heard on their 2020 double album releases The Rabbit and The Owl. 

In 2019, he relocated to the Bay Area to begin a new chapter as a music educator. Since then, he has become involved in the musical theatre scene and has performed in Groundhog Day, Evita and Into the Woods, among many others. Kirk can also be heard playing with Swamp Cake, an organ-based trio that brings the funky, swamp-infused grooves of Louisiana to the West Coast. His debut album Fragile Limbs was released in spring of 2023.
