Heritage Happy Hour: The Endup
Heritage Happy Hour is a convivial “no-host” gathering of heritage professionals, young preservationists, aficionados, friends, and Legacy Business cohorts interested in safeguarding San Francisco’s unique architectural and cultural identity. We get together on the Second Thursday of each month from 5-7 pm at a registered Legacy Business bar in San Francisco.
Originally opened in 1973 as an after-hours LGBTQ+ country western nightclub, today the Endup is a comfortably intimate day-club and after-hours spot in the SOMA neighborhood. For over 50 years, locals have come to know the saying, "everyone ends up at the Endup."
The Endup has created a dance culture centered on diversity and inclusion that invites people from all walks of life onto the dance floor. SOMA has been identified as one of San Francisco’s LGBTQ enclaves and is historic for the numerous LGBTQ properties, businesses, organizations, and individuals associated with the area, including the Endup.
The Endup has brought in top-tier rising performers and DJs over the years, including Wiz Khalifa, Bad Bunny, Nio Garcia, Mario, Derrick Carter, Doc Martin, and DJ Sneak. It has also been mentioned in various books, plays, and films including Tales of the City by San Francisco author Armisted Maupin, the 2000 film Groove, and the play The Sweetest Hangover.
The Endup was added to the Legacy Business Registry on December 9, 2019.
