About the event

Advanced Longform Intensive
Learn how to naturally extend your scene work into musical improv with the legend behind the keys of “Whose Line is It Anyway?”, Laura Hall.

About this Event

In this intensive workshop, Laura & Rick will help you understand how to naturally extend your scene work into musical improv through character, emotion and relationships and apply those skills to longform shows.

This is an ideal workshop for any musical improviser looking to take their longform skills to the next level. In addition to focusing on heightening scenes to grow into rich and interesting songs, the workshop will cover other key skills that allow you to deliver on those songs. This workshop will culminate in a performance of a longform musical montage, providing students a chance to demonstrate their new skills for an audience.

Date & Time: This six hour workshop will take place on Sunday, July 13 and be split into a morning session from 11:00am to 2:00PM and an afternoon session from 3:00pm - 6:00PM, followed by a performance by all workshop students at 8:00PM.

Who Is Eligible: This workshop is for advanced musical improvisers–those who have completed a musical improv program and have had experience performing musical improv.

Maximum Capacity: In order to ensure the best possible experience for those taking part, we are capping this workshop at a maximum of 15 total students.

Locations: Both sessions of this intensive workshop will be held at the Endgames Improv training center at 2989 Mission St, San Francisco. The student show will be held at the Endgame Improv theater at 2965 Mission St, San Francisco.

About the Teachers:

Laura Hall (Musical Director, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, The Second City Chicago) and her husband, Rick Hall (Actor, “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, The Second City Chicago) teach musical improv workshops for all levels. Laura and Rick have taught musical improv all over the world, at comedy clubs, theaters, festivals and universities. As a teaching team they provide two unique perspectives; that of an experienced Musical Director, and a seasoned actor/improviser.

Laura and Rick create a lively, supportive environment for you to grow, explore, move out of your comfort zone, and most importantly, have fun!
