The San Diego Chapter of CCA California is honored to announce that creator and host of the fishing radio talk show Let’s Talk Hookup, Pete Gray, will be honored with the 2025 Beacon Award. The coveted Beacon Award is given annually to an individual recognized as a leader within the fishing community who
demonstrates vision, leadership, and a commitment to conservation. The award’s lighthouse beacon symbolizes illumination and exemplary guidance. Previous recipients are Art Taylor and Celia Condit, Owner / Operators of the Searcher out of Fisherman’s Landing, recognized in 2023 for their outstanding
fishing and natural history tour charters. In 2024, Capt. Frank LoPreste was honored for his 33 + years of service to the sportfishing community, and in many ways laying a foundation for the fleet and providing opportunities for other Captains.
