Gems On Canvas

Early cave inhabitants to Renaissance artists employed mortar and pestles to grind rocks and gems into pigments for walls, murals, and canvases. Learn how contemporary gemologists examine artworks for gem history, revealing trade routes, geography, and more from ancient pigments. Presented by GIA Staff Gemologist Britni LeCroy.
