Recent flooding across San Antonio and Central Texas has provided stark reminders that climate-related disasters are increasingly impacting our communities. The question isn't if disruptions will happen, but how prepared we'll be when they do. How can we build resilience now? What steps can neighborhoods take to respond effectively and recover stronger?
Join us on August 21 to develop your neighborhood's Resilience Plan alongside the Climate Ready Neighborhoods network—a collaborative movement of neighborhood PODs (points of distribution), Resource Partner organizations, and dedicated community members working together to build climate readiness across San Antonio.
This session will provide an overview of the six critical areas that form the foundation of effective neighborhood resilience planning, followed by our interactive SHIFT Happens! scenario planning workshop. You'll work through real-world challenges—from flooding to food insecurity —using our practical framework:
S: Survey Your Strengths
H: Harness Your Resources
I: Identify Disruption
F: Focus Your Response
T: Track Your Progress
Through hands-on exercises, you'll begin mapping your neighborhood's unique Road to Resilience, identifying existing assets and developing actionable response strategies for various climate scenarios.
These bi-monthly meetings are designed for neighborhood teams and supporting organizations participating in the Climate Ready Neighborhoods network. We also welcome community members interested in learning more about joining this growing movement of community-based resilience building.
Bring your neighbors! The most effective resilience planning happens when multiple neighborhood leaders collaborate and share perspectives.
