The course examines SMP’s contribution to enhanced acoustical control, an essential feature for creating more comfortable and quiet indoor environments. Attendees will also gain insights into how SMP integrates seamlessly into air barrier systems, contributing to superior air-tightness and energy efficiency in building envelopes. By understanding the ways SMP reduces construction delays and offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional materials, architects will be equipped to make informed decisions that prioritize sustainability, durability, and budget-conscious solutions.

Schauffele is an internationally published author and speaker in energy conservation and sustainable building envelopes, including insulation, air barrier technology, roofing & waterproofing to improve building science and cost-effectiveness. He is considered one of the leading Air Barrier experts in North America.

Globally, he is the only person to be a Fellow of both CSI and ABAA. He continues to be a highly requested national speaker on air barriers, building envelopes, energy conservation, and sustainability.

The presentation will be based on Roy’s most recent research article, “A Performance Overview of the Chemical Polymers in Air Barrier Technologies.”
