Summary

Nightbear challenges the myth that Texas Indigenous peoples are extinct—and confronts ridicule from other tribal nations for standing in his truth.

As a Texas Indigenous father, Night Bear grapples with identity and blood quantum ridicule. But his family soon learns that no card can define who they are—or heal what lives in their hearts.

“Too Indigenous for Texas to ignore. Not Indigenous enough for the colonized mind. Nightbear lives between erasure and proof—Not recognized. Not erased. 100% N.D.N.”
