Founded in 1985 by brothers Jack and Ted Ashton, Young Artist Chamber Players (YACP) provides talented young string musicians with high-quality chamber orchestra experience. Celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and embarking upon their 14th European tour, this youth ensemble is renowned for its exceptional performances and its commitment to fostering a love of beautiful music. YACP engages in community outreach in festivals, concert series, and tours, sharing classical music with local and international audiences. Music conductors on this concert tour are Alice Ashton Coulam and Ted Ashton.

Directors’ Biographies
Alice Ashton Coulam , daughter of YACP founder Jack Ashton, is a violinist and educator from Utah, USA, where she is a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square and first violinist of the Zion String Quartet. She holds a Masters of Music in Violin Performance and has performed with groups including Utah Chamber Artists and Ballet West Orchestra. Alice conducts and mentors several youth ensembles and maintains a private violin and viola studio. Alice and her husband Mark are the parents of four children.
Ted Ashton , a native of Utah, currently resides in Idaho, USA. Ted retired as a professor of music from Brigham Young University-Idaho, where he served as the director of String Chamber Music. Prior to his tenure at BYU-Idaho, he directed orchestras in Utah public schools. In 1985, Ted co-founded the YACP touring ensemble with his brother Jack. In addition to maintaining a private violin studio, Ted directs a community string orchestra and enjoys riding and training horses.
