Join us on Saturday, April 19th from 1 PM - 4 PM as we create upcycled jewelry boxes just in time for Easter! All experience levels are welcome to participate.
In this 3-hour workshop, you will make your own take-home jewelry box using upcycling skills, which you can then apply to any piece of furniture, using chalk paint, decoupage, stenciling, and finishing off with gilding wax. A new, unused jewelry box will be provided with your workshop fee (See box details and dimensions below), and a thoughtfully curated assortment of multiple decoupage papers and stencils to choose from for application inside and/or on the side of drawers. The three colors of chalk paint provided are from Daydream Apothecary: a neon hot pink, a neon yellow, and a seafoam blue. Three shades of furniture wax will be available to add depth and dimension: dark/antique, black, and white. Gold and silver gilding wax will be available to choose from to add extra brilliance and pizzaz, and clear sealing wax for you to apply over the chalk paint to secure the vibrancy for decades to come. Aftercare: Learn the importance of letting your finish cure, and how to care for and maintain your finished piece once you get it home.
This class is all about artistic free expression. There is no wrong way to complete this fun art project. The skills learned in this workshop can be applied to any piece of furniture you want to give new life through upcycling. We love furniture art and are excited to share these skills and experiences with you!

Every attendee will leave with a jewelry box of their own creation. This workshop is intended for ages 14 and up; under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Location: Art studios in Sugar House.
These workshops will be limited to 10 participants per class. Additional workshops covering the same project can be duplicated if more than 10 people request participation. *Dress in comfortable clothing that you're okay with getting paint on. Paint smocks will be available, and snacks and water will be provided.
