Post 1847 has been invited by the Battleship Utah Seacadets to assist in
this year laying of wreaths at Fort Douglas Cemetery in Salt Lake City. Every December, thousands of volunteers across the United States lay wreaths on veterans' graves as a powerful, simple act of remembrance and gratitude.
Fort Douglas was the first Military Cemetery established in Utah in 1862. Veterans there have served in every major conflict from the Indian Wars to the War on Terror. Also burried there is Territorial Governor James Duane Doty (1863-1865)
