Is your child prepared to stay home alone, care for younger siblings, or babysit this summer? Steele Memorial Medical Center is offering a Safe Sitter® class tailored for students in grades 6–8, equipping them with essential skills and confidence to handle real-life situations safely and responsibly.
What Students Will Learn:
Safety Skills: Recognizing and responding to emergencies such as power outages, severe weather, and intrusions.
Child Care Skills: Understanding child development, managing behavior, and practicing diapering and feeding techniques.
First Aid & CPR: Hands-on training in choking rescue, CPR using manikins, and basic first aid for common injuries.
Life & Business Skills: Screening babysitting jobs, setting expectations with families, discussing payment, and professional communication through role-playing activities.
