Our FINAL Sunday Session is Sunday, May 4th and is going to a multi-topic, multi-session day! Let's learn together! Come for one or come for all. Classes are by donation to support the Shuswap Community Teaching Garden and the Shuswap Makerspace.
1-2pm: Gardening 101 with Melanie Bennett
There are many folks new to gardening who are keen to get started. With the costs and also the concerns about what's on and IN our food, now's a great time to begin growing more of your own food, for the nutrition and the TASTE!
This is a beginner class to go over the basics from the start: Sun, soil, Wwater, seeds and plants, growing timelines and understanding how to put it all together, whether in a pot, a raised bed or straight into your own yard.
2-3pm: Composting 101 with Roy Reinmuth
To create your own healthy, high quality compost for use in your garden beds, it does require knowledge! It is an art and Roy is passionate about creating compost! He will teach his own method including putting together some inexpensive compost bays using pallets. Then you'll learn about the "ingredients" that are needed for high quality compost that is not only full of nutrients but NOT full of weeds or pathogens.
