$6 Sunday: Finger Pin Cushion

Pin cushions have been around for over 500 years, from the Middle Ages to today. Most folks think of them as being used for sewing but they were also important in periods in our history when clothing was closed with pins instead of buttons. This includes women’s clothing in our country’s colonial history, including the American Revolutionary era that began 250 years ago! Join co-op member and living historian Colleen L. Pappas of Herstory Handcrafts in making a finger pin cushion, similar to the one pictured here. The cost is $6.00 per pin cushion and includes instructions, pattern, fabric, padding, and trim. Bring your own needle, thread, and scissors or use those provided at the site. Note that the shop does not offer Sunday hours except for the workshop but feel free to shop as well! Also note that registration is required to ensure space and materials as well as payment.
