Thorn Haze is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter from an old oil town in south-central Kansas, known for blending indie, rock, alternative & blues into a nightmare influenced by David Lynch, Black Sabbath, Frank Zappa, Vincent Gallo, and Nick Drake.
Raised by schoolteachers in Burns, Kansas, Haze’s early memories include watching Tim Burton blow up a donut shop in his backyard for the film "Mars Attacks!" Born a twin, Haze and his brother, combatxcarl, began teaching each other guitar, bass, ukulele, brass, and drums at age 10, shaping his early connection to storytelling through music. In 2016, just weeks after graduating college, Haze became a university professor in audio production. During this time, he balanced odd jobs like antique dealing, casework, sports videography while working remotely with Mick Fleetwood, Gary Clark Jr., and football legend Ed Reed.
Haze’s breakthrough came in 2023 when he launched a year-long project to write & record a new song every day, often from remote locations. This bold experiment attracted thousands of new fans which allowed him to refine his sound and creative process for his sophomore album La Luz, produced by Kenny Riley (Santana, Steve Stevens, Grace VanderWaal, Noah Reid).
Released in October 2024, La Luz tackles heavy and emotional themes, exploring trauma and resilience. The album showcases Haze’s raw, powerful voice, dark guitar riffs, and lo-fi production, all shaped by his year of experimentation.
As of 2025, Haze has soared over 100,000 TikTok followers and riding high with his first single of 2025, Poor Man's Cry.
