In 1937, the Works Progress Administration, one of the New Deal programs established to keep millions of Americans working during the Great Depression, completed construction of the KIVA in Thomas Park. For decades, this stone hut has served as a public gathering space in North Salina, hosting sporting events, parties, family reunions, and more.

Join DSA Salina in taking care of this treasured public space. From 8am until noon, we will be clearing out trash and other refuse from Thomas Park and Dry Creek. Afterwards, we will relax with a brief picnic to celebrate public works. Volunteers are welcome!
