Groovespeak is a high-altitude fusion of rock, funk, blues, country, and jazz—an original sound forged in the heart of the Rockies. Formed in 2003 in Leadville, Colorado, the band has carved out a reputation for soulful songwriting, fearless improvisation, and groove-heavy performances that reflect the rugged spirit of mountain living.
Led by songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Carey Nall, and co-founded by keys/guitar wizard Brian Woodward, Groovespeak blends decades of musical experience with a deep love for genre-crossing exploration. Drawing influences from The Beatles to Funkadelic, John Coltrane to Jerry Reed, their sound is both rooted and adventurous—familiar yet constantly surprising.
After a several-year hiatus, Groovespeak is back with fresh material, new energy, and a renewed commitment to live performance. Whether playing stripped-down acoustic sets or full-band electric shows, the group continues to captivate Colorado audiences from Leadville to Salida and beyond. With new albums in the works and a growing collection of archived recordings, Groovespeak is once again speaking the language of the groove—and inviting everyone to listen.
