A Walk Into Town, Salem, MA - August 30, 9:30 am
One of the best sights after a long day on the Camino is when your destination finally appears on the horizon. As you enter town, the streets become livelier, and your focus shifts from walking to finding your albergue and planning the evening meal. That feeling—the anticipation and relief at the end of a day’s stage—is what we’ll aim to recreate on this walk.
Join the American Pilgrims on the Camino – Boston Chapter for A Walk Into Town, an approximately 4-mile hike from historic downtown Salem to Salem Willows Park, followed by a return to downtown. Afterward, we’ll gather for lunch and fellowship at Bambolina (Pizza Restaurant, 288 Derby Street, Salem, MA 01970).
Route Highlights:
Before leaving the city, we’ll pass through Salem’s historic downtown, the Custom House, Derby Wharf, the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, and The House of the Seven Gables. Upon reaching Salem Willows, we’ll enjoy a scenic loop around the park before heading back via Collins Cove to the Salem Common. From there, we’ll pass the Salem Witch Museum and the site of the first “long-distance” phone call (placed into Boston) before ending back in the heart of Salem.
