Copland’s Symphony No. 3 with The Florida Orchestra

A decade ago, Michael Francis conducted Aaron Copland’s grand Third Symphony for a momentous occasion – his first opening night as Music Director of The Florida Orchestra. For “The Great American Symphony,” Copland sought a big finish, and he found it in his own Fanfare for the Common Man. That fanfare is the inspiration for the opening work on this program, Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, which she dedicates to “women who take risks and who are adventurous.” Gershwin’s Piano Concerto will be in the hands of guest soloist Tzimon Barto, a bodybuilder, novelist, poet and philosopher from Eustis, FL.

Classical Kids & Teens: Kids and teens ages 5-18 get in free to all Masterworks concerts with Classical Kids tickets, thanks in part to the generous support of an anonymous donor.
