Session 2: Energy & Recovery in Menopause
Our second session in the Unpaused & Andy Perkins Fitness series focuses on reclaiming energy and supporting recovery during midlife hormonal change. Attendees will explore how lifestyle, stress, and exercise can work with their changing physiology rather than against it.
The session unpacks the key drivers of fatigue in perimenopause and menopause — from sleep disruption and fluctuating hormones to cortisol spikes and blood sugar imbalance. Women learn practical strategies around nutrition, rest, and self-compassion to help them better understand when their body is calling for a pause versus when movement can boost mood and vitality.
Building on this foundation, Andy will guide the group through how to train smarter, not harder. He highlights signs of overtraining, why recovery matters more than ever, and how mobility, stretching, active rest, and sleep-supportive habits can improve overall performance and energy balance. The conversation also covers the importance of fuelling effectively — including when fasting may hinder rather than help — and how timing nutrition can support better workouts and recovery.
