Panel 3 of the Hmong 50 Years of Progress Speaker Series, titled "A New Life in America," focused on the personal journeys of Hmong refugees who resettled in the United States between 1975 and 2004. This powerful discussion offered a heartfelt reflection on the challenges and triumphs experienced during the early years of resettlement.
Panelists shared deeply personal stories of arriving in a foreign land with little more than hope and determination. They spoke of overcoming language barriers, navigating unfamiliar systems, facing discrimination, and adapting to a new way of life while holding tightly to their cultural identity. Despite the hardships, their journeys highlighted extraordinary resilience and the strength of community.
This panel honored the courage of the Hmong people in building new lives, raising families, and laying the foundation for future generations. Their experiences are a testament to adaptation, perseverance, and progress—and an enduring reminder of the sacrifices made in pursuit of freedom and opportunity in America.
We would like to thank all our sponsors and partners for making this event possible.
