Standup Comedy: A 4 part Workshop series

Whether you're a seasoned professional or completely new to stand up, there's something in the 4 week course for you! Each week will include a short lecture portion and group activities on the following topics:

Week 1 Finding Your Comedic Voice

Week 2 Building Your Structure

Week 3 Constructing Your Punchlines

Week 4 Working it out

Each class will begin with reviewing the daily writing prompts assigned the previous week to inspire new material, we'll allot time after each lecture to work out and punch up what you've written during the week as well as different breakout activities to inspire new jokes. This class requires a commitment to writing every single day, whether you write just a couple lines or a couple pages, you must commit to writing every day.

About Kelliann

Kelliann Kary is a writer, performer, producer, and director who’s been bringing laughs to the Twin Cities for years. She’s best known as the Artistic Director and co-founding member of Smartmouth Comedy Company. She is also an instructor at the Creative Institute at Actors Theater of Minnesota.

Her comedy journey started back in college, where she wrote plays, then moved into sketch, and eventually stand-up. Basically, if it was comedy, she was writing it!

After almost twenty years of cracking jokes and producing sold-out shows, Kelliann decided to create this class—not just as a fun challenge for herself, but because it’s exactly the kind of class she wishes she’d had when she was first starting out.
