Pig's Eye Park
2165 Pigs Eye Lake Rd, Saint Paul, United States
Join UMN researchers on Saturday, October 25, anytime between 1 and 4 p.m. to learn about the scientific research taking place at Pig’s Eye Regional Park. (Free and open to the public.)
At a webinar last year, researchers discussed plans for testing bioremediation ideas at the site. During this in-person event, you can learn more about this current research, see field experiments in action, and hear about findings so far. This work explores methods of remediation of contaminated sites using charcoal made from waste plant biomass (like invasive buckthorn). Hopefully, the results of this research will inform potential clean-up efforts at sites like Pig’s Eye.
Researchers will lead tours of the field plots, demonstrate how biochar is being used to reduce the effects of pollutants, and answer questions about their work.
Plus, enjoy naturalist talks, guided birding walks, and learn about the land's history and natural resources.
Please join us and enjoy an afternoon exploring St. Paul’s largest park! RSVP appreciated.
Hosted by the University of Minnesota in partnership with Great River Passage Conservancy, with support from the City of Saint Paul, Urban Bird Collective, and Pig's Eye Park Friends.
