Holly Ratcliffe, who is our preacher on August 31, is offering a unique daylong workshop the day before on Saturday 30 August. It begins with a reflection on our attitudes toward death which draws on historical and prehistorical examples of funeral art and is followed by a hands on exploration with clay, letting our hands do the talking. A gentle and creative approach to a challenging subject that touches us all. Please bring a bag lunch and an apron.

Registration is free but required, so as to plan for the number of workshop participants.

Holly was trained in anthropology and theology. Her turn to ceramics full time began in 2015. She graduated from the three year DEC programme in ceramics at la Maison des métiers d’art à Québec (MMÀQ) in 2019. It was then that the strands of her life journey came together with her artistic spirit in creating simple, classic forms of thrown or handbuilt ceramic funeral ware in the tradition of abstract expressionist surface treatment.
