Espace pour la vie et Génome Québec invitent la population à participer à une activité de science participative visant à mieux comprendre l’état de la biodiversité dans l’estuaire du Saint-Laurent grâce à l’analyse de l’ADN environnemental contenu dans un simple échantillon d’eau. Au cœur de ce projet se trouve le béluga, espèce sentinelle emblématique du Québec.
Comment participer:
La population est invitée à prélever des échantillons d’eau contenant de l’ADN environnemental, en suivant un protocole établi par Génome Québec et avec l’accompagnement de l’équipe d’éducation du Biodôme. Ces échantillons seront analysés au Centre d’expertise et de services Génome Québec. Les résultats seront ensuite disponibles tant pour la recherche que pour le public.

Espace pour la vie and Génome Québec are inviting the public to take part in a community science activity whose aim is a better understanding of the state of biodiversity in the St. Lawrence River Estuary through an analysis of the environmental DNA contained in a single water sample. At the heart of this project lies the beluga, an emblematic sentinel species in Québec.
How to participate
The public is invited to collect water samples containing environmental DNA, following a protocol established by Génome Québec and with support from the Biodôme education team. Those samples will be analyzed at its Centre d’expertise et de services, and the results will afterwards be available both for research purposes and to the public
