Discover the art of outdoor portrait photography in this hands-on workshop, led by NCE educator and professional photographer Becky Clark-Dullinger and sponsored by Tamron. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your foundational skills or elevate your creative approach, this session is designed to help you make the most of natural light to create beautifully lit portraits.
We’ll start in the classroom with a guided presentation covering exposure settings, white balance, depth of field, and focal length—key elements that work together to create dynamic images. You’ll also gain insight into the role of light in portraiture, including how to recognize quality light, use basic modifiers, and choose the best time of day for your shoot. Then, put your knowledge into practice during a live photo session with on-site models! Becky and the NCE photo team will be available throughout to offer tips, answer questions, and provide hands-on support.

BE PREPARED
Pack your interchangeable lens camera, lenses, and charge up your batteries before the event! We also recommend bringing additional batteries and memory cards just in case.
The presentation portion of this workshop will be held in our classroom on the second floor of the building, which is accessible by stairs or elevator. The shooting portion will be held outdoors in the greenspace behind the building and may include additional areas nearby. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early so we can begin the class on time.
