We Can Lead Change, Fox Valley Activists, Fox Valley Rising, HIKE Indivisible, Batavia-Aurora Indivisible, and Batavia, St. Charles, Western Kane, and Elgin Township Democrats will be hosting a vigil on July 17th, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis' passing. We will be honoring his legacy by defending democracy and carrying forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
We will gather at 7:00 PM outside Bethlehem Lutheran Church, located at 1145 N 5th Avenue, St. Charles, IL. This will be a somber, one-hour event. There is a lot of parking around the church - both in the church lots and on the streets. If weather is an issue, we will move into the church.
We will be standing for an hour - bring a lawn chair if needed.
We will also have folks who will help people sign up for Vote By Mail. Look for Information table.
We will be taking the donations below for a local charity:
Pull-ups (Sizes 4T, 5T, 6T & 7T)
Diapers (Sizes 5 & 6)
Travel Size: Shampoo, Lotion, Body Wash, Bar Soap, Toothpaste, Mouthwash (alcohol free)
Toothbrushes
Benadryl, Tylenol, Neosporin, Ibuprofen, Lip Balm
Join We Can Lead Change to participate in this national day of nonviolent action as we host this vigil to demand that Congress fight back and protect our freedom to vote. This is a moment of moral clarity and collective power.
We march in peace. Together we are stronger.
A core principle behind our events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
