TOILET RATS
The Toilet Rats will be returning to the area, marking the release of their new album, Synth Redux Vol. 1 — a stripped-down, synth-punk resurrection of fan-favorites. Channeling the raw energy of basement shows and the coldwave pulse of early synth-punk, Tommy Ratz (aka Thomas Rehbein) rewires Toilet Rats classics with pulsing drum machines, snarling analog synths, and the kind of nihilistic groove that’d make 1983’s dancefloors combust. “Imagine your favorite Rats songs filtered through a late-night punk dance party,” says Ratz. This isn’t a remix—it’s a rebirth. A reimagined onslaught of chaos, where overdriven drum machines meet ghostly synths, and every track feels like a stolen transmission from another era. For fans of dystopian dance parties and unapologetic noise.

THIRSTY GIANTS
The Thirsty Giants are an intergenerational basement punk trio now spread out between Mankato, Minneapolis, and Duluth. They released a new EP called Thirst A.D. in March and have a forthcoming live album coming out later in May.

THE WANNAS
In October of 1964, the teenage Mankato garage rock band, The Gestures, released their hit song "Run Run Run". Sixty years later, The Wannas started playing music together in a garage in lower North Mankato. At times, they sound like a teenage rock band, but more often a band channeling a midlife crisis into songs that are always loud and usually fast. They have recordings in the works.
