Democracy Dies in a Vacuum! This is an important time to be visible and have your voice heard!
On Friday, May 9th we'll be focusing a highly visible, pro-democracy effort on the high volume I-94 commercial corridor at the busiest time of day, the afternoon rush hour (3-6 pm).
Through the day, we're hoping to fill all 2 of St. Paul's main pedestrian bridges crossing 94. The aim is to have banners and signs visible to traffic on both bridges facing east and west bound.
As safety is paramount, we aim to not exceed 50 people per bridge. Also, per police request and compliance with the law, participants should be sure to have keep all signage and personal items inside the boundaries of the fencing (public safety violation). The St. Paul police were very respective of our right to demonstrate at our first rally and there's no reason to make their day more complicated. All this will not only negate any chaos it will retain easy access for folks that may still need to use the bridge as designed. We should strive to be peaceful and conscientious and not be seen as a liability!
3:00 pm;
We begin gathering at the Pedestrian Bridges over Interstate 94 at Aldine and Chatsworth Streets and in St. Paul. Whichever bridge you prefer. Aldine has a Chain Link fence which may make our signs more visible.
What to Bring:
Bring your signs! Although you may be feeling "Fuck Trump", we'd like this rally to focus on what can bring us ALL together and why Trump is bad for EVERYONE (billionaires excluded, of course). Examples: "Resurrect Democracy", "No Kings", "Give Up Trump For Lent", "Trump is Bad For Farmers", "Elon's Cashing Your Social Security Check", "Un-Trump The World" , "Resist". etc...
Feel free to make your sign in a way that speaks to you, just try to avoid language with the purpose to incite. We're not going to tell you how to protest or police signs etc., just try to be decent.
This rally will focus on how Trumpism hurts ALL Americans, including those who voted for him. It is not intended to be a disruptive protest. It is intended to give the resistance visibility. There's a silent majority waiting to speak and millions of former Trump supporters ready to get off that sinking ship. The hope is, this makes it more comfortable for them to raise their own voices in dissent and disapproval.
Please share with anyone who you think may want to attend or, who may want to pass it along. It would be amazing to see bridges filled with The Resistance!
Hopefully, we've given enough time for people to take off work early. If you believe in this cause and cannot or, choose not to attend, there are other ways to "show-up". You can share this event with friends and family and call your senators and let your voice be heard. Viva La Resistance!!
