This gathering is the second part of our Gone Guys community conversation. While the first night focused on watching the film and reflecting on what resonated, this evening is about going deeper and starting to make meaning together.
On January 29th, we’ll continue the conversation by looking more closely at disconnection, isolation, and loneliness, especially as they impact boys and men in our community. Using local and national data as a starting point, we’ll explore how these challenges show up here in Rutland and what they mean for families, relationships, and community well-being.
This is not a lecture or a panel. It’s a facilitated, community-centered conversation designed to create space for honest dialogue, shared learning, and collaboration. You don’t need to have attended the film screening to participate, and you don’t need to be an expert on the topic. Curiosity and openness are enough.
The evening will include:
A short overview of data related to social connection, isolation, and loneliness, including what we’re seeing locally and nationally
Small group discussions where participants can share observations, experiences, and ideas
A large group conversation to bring themes together and identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities in our community
Time to connect informally with others who care about this work
We’ll hold this space with clear community guidelines to ensure the conversation remains respectful, thoughtful, and grounded. This is not therapy, and no one will be asked to share more than they’re comfortable with.
All genders are welcome, and men and boys are especially encouraged to attend and help lead this conversation from their lived experiences. Ages 14 and up.
Light refreshments will be provided.
This conversation is part of a larger, ongoing effort to better understand the loneliness epidemic affecting boys and men and to begin identifying meaningful ways to build connection and belonging in our community
