Chichele College, the historic English Heritage site in Higham Ferrers, will provide the stunning backdrop for “Testing the Waters”, a vibrant new art exhibition this autumn, showcasing the work of four talented local artists: Ashley Medlock, Emma Saul, Annabelle Benjamin, and Ellen Bletsoe.
The exhibition forms part of the Northants & Rutland Open Studios Art Festival, the largest visual arts event in the county, which celebrates creativity and community by opening doors to artists’ studios and exhibitions across the region.
“Testing the Waters” brings together a diverse collection of contemporary works. Each artist offers a unique perspective:
•Ashley Medlock explores expressive and bold forms with a distinctive style.
•Emma Saul explores our connections to the land and sense of place through her paintings and ceramics
•Annabelle Benjamin offers imaginative, varied and colourful pieces exploring a range of subjects.
•Ellen Bletsoe creates abstract and semi abstract works infused with colour, energy, and emotion.
Set within the medieval walls of Chichele College, this exhibition promises an inspiring dialogue between history and modern creativity, and it’s the first time this historic building has hosted an exhibition for the NROS festival.
Ashley Medlock commented: “It’s an honour to be exhibiting at Chichele College as part of the Northants & Rutland Open Studios Festival. Showing contemporary art in such a historic space really highlights the connection between our heritage and the creative voices shaping the present. With ‘Testing the Waters’, we’re inviting visitors to explore new ideas, styles, and approaches in art, and I’m excited to see how people respond.”
