Great Southeast Pollinator Census – Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23
Anyone interested in contributing to the census can count insects wherever they find them. For those who don’t have a garden, we hope to have volunteers positioned around the county on Friday and/or Saturday at several public gardens to help explain how to take a census.
In the meantime, these gardens are welcoming the public to view and count pollinators. Please respect the hours listed.
- Granville County History Museum, 1 Museum Lane, Oxford – Dawn to dusk.
- Oxford Post Office, 144 Main St, Oxford – Dawn to dusk.
- Berea Branch Library Pollinator Garden – 1211 US-158, Oxford – Dawn to dusk.
- Memorial Pollinator Garden at Vance County Farmers Market, 210 Southpark Dr., Henderson – Open dawn to dusk. Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Vance & Warren Counties will be at the garden to help with the Census both Friday and Saturday (Aug. 22&23) from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Person County Public Library Pollinator Garden, 319 S. Main St., Roxboro – Open during regular business hours only. (9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, on the days of the Census)
- Creedmoor Community Center Pollinator Garden, 114 Douglas Dr., Creedmoor – We hope to have volunteers here to assist on the days of the Census, and we will publicize those times as soon as we have them. Otherwise, the public may visit the garden from dawn to dusk.
