Waioroariki Taonga Puoro

An opportunity has come up for our whānau to welcome Waioroariki, a taonga pūoro collective dedicated to the renewal and revival of taonga pūoro, onto our marae here in the Waiariki region. We have been given the opportunity to host the kaupapa on the 18th and 19th of October, and hau kāinga are always welcome to come and take part in the wānanga. The kaupapa will kick off with a 4:00pm whakatau at Tārewa Pounamu, to welcome those from out of town who will be staying in our whare.
On the Sunday, we have been given the privilege of welcoming Te Murirangaranga onto our marae, the famed kōauau played by Tūtanekai that is currently in the care of the museum. Te Murirangaranga will come onto our marae at 10am on Sunday, so please come to celebrate and acknowledge this significant taonga tūturu.
