We’re excited to welcome selected Year 8 students from across our community to a special day designed to grow confidence, connection, and leadership.
Future Leaders of Lakes – Whakatipu Rangatira is a unique opportunity for students to take part in fun workshops, team challenges, and inspiring activities that explore what leadership looks like in school and beyond.
Students are nominated by their current kura for showing leadership potential in areas such as cultural involvement, academic effort, artistic talent, sporting ability, or personal resilience.
Attending this event does not lock students into enrolling at Rotorua Lakes High School – it’s simply a chance to explore one of several secondary school pathways available in a supportive and empowering environment.
Students will also be among the first to hear about our exciting new 2026 Junior Scholarship Programme – Te Puna Rangatira, launching soon to support and grow future leaders at Lakes.
Whānau are invited to attend the welcome with their tamariki and are warmly welcome to stay for light refreshments before leaving their precious taonga with us for the day.
Kai (morning tea and lunch) will be provided, and the day will be fully supervised by our staff and senior student leaders.
If your child has been nominated, you’ll receive more information shortly. If you’re interested in your child being considered, we encourage you to contact their current kura directly to see if they can be nominated. And as always, feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions.
