About the event

Inspiration from Japan: Impressionism and Ukiyo-e Woodblock Prints
* Free to Attend * Art History Talk

When Japan opened to the West in the 1860s, the Impressionist artists became increasingly interested in studying and collecting the Japanese Ukio-e prints, or pictures of the floating world. In this talk we will discuss the extent to which this fascination with Japanese art and culture influenced the development of the Impressionist style.
