JOHN HEIMBUCH performs GILGAMESH with live improv score by JAKE ENDRES!

A gripping one-man retelling of the oldest-written epic adventure story – with musical accompaniment created in the moment! Local theater legend Charlie Bethel wrote this modern, riveting translation of the ancient Sumerian tale, which John Heimbuch has been performing all over the country. Smoke House Stage producer and host Jake Endres will create music in support of the story on the spot, just like it used to be done of old. Monsters! Horror! Heroism! Meat and beer!

As always, Happy Hour starts at 5:30 with the artists on at 6:00. (This week we know the show will last one hour exactly.) Bring your own sittin’ tools, your smiling face, and preferably a friend or three. We will pass the basket for donations in support of our guest artist (though no one is under any obligation to contribute). ALL ARE WELCOME – although this week we issue a content warning: ***GILGAMESH contains descriptions of monster-fighting violence and sacred sexuality, and is best appreciated by audiences aged 14 years or older***. If you’re up for that, don’t miss this one-of-a-kind spectacle!
