Join us for a free author event at The Hound Books when we welcome narrative journalist Suzanne Copy and her new book Women of War.
Women of War is the gripping, true, and untold story of the Italian women's resistance during World War II. In early September 1943, Italy surrendered to the Allies. But the Nazis were prepared and quickly took over the country, aided by Italian Fascist loyalists. Grassroots resistance fighters began organizing immediately, and Italian women were integral to their efforts, serving as underground soliders, intrepid spies, cunning saboteurs, and much more. Using primary sources and brand new scholarship, historian Suzanne Cope unearths the hidden history of the brave women who risked their lives to liberate Italy.
