Rome Music Collective presents: SONGWRITER SHOWCASE COMPETITION

Inspired by the world-famous Eddie's Attic open mic, Rome Music Collective will host a Songwriter Showcase Competition, sponsored by Rome Area Council for the Arts, every 4th Thursday of the month, 7pm-9pm, beginning in May, at Cosmic Dog Outpost, FREE and open to the public!
Each performer will have 10 minutes to play two original songs. Each night, a panel of judges with a music industry background will select three finalists to perform one song at the end of the night, and then one finalist will be selected from the three. The finalists from each showcase will be invited to participate in the Songwriter Showdown, featuring an evening of songs with the finalists from each showcase, and ONE LUCKY SONGWRITER will receive an AWARD and a PRIZE (date to be announced). The objective is to showcase songwriters- the competition aspect is just for fun.
Audience response is a part of the judging criteria, so be sure to show up and cheer on your favorite songwriters!

SONGWRITER SHOWCASE INFORMATION:
~Each performer will have 10 minutes to play two original songs. At the end of the night, a panel of judges with a music industry background will select three finalists to perform one more song. The judges will select one winner.
~Performers are judged in five areas: songwriting, vocal performance, playing ability, stage presence, and audience response.
~There are no more than 3 players allowed on stage. No effects (looping, pedals, amps, etc.) are allowed. No drum kits are allowed, but handheld percussion is okay. Original songs ONLY.
~The winner from each showcase will be invited to participate in the Songwriter Showdown at the end of the quarter, and ONE LUCKY SONGWRITER will receive an AWARD and a PRIZE (date to be announced). The objective is to showcase local songwriters- the competition aspect is just for fun.
~ALL songwriters/ ALL genres are encouraged to participate! This is an all-ages show. Please choose your songs accordingly.
~Performers can only sign up for one showcase a quarter (May 22nd, June 26th, or July 24th).
~In the event of rain or weather-related issues, the showcase will be held next door at Cecil T's.
