Penny Dobson Mixed Media Art Show

Join us for a month long exhibit of wonderful works by Penny Dobson. Penny Dobson is a mixed-media artist living in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Before moving there four years ago, she spent 27 years teaching high school art and pottery in northwest Georgia. You might have met her and her husband Johnnie at the Chiaha Harvest Fair! She and Johnnie were married by folk artist Howard Finster 26 years ago, and Penny credits Johnnie with inspiring her to become both an art teacher and a practicing artist.

Penny’s work began with folk art–influenced pieces, but over time, her focus has shifted to more refined paintings while retaining a bit of whimsy. Today, almost any surface can become part of her work, though she is expecially fond of vintage artifacts. She also creates her own frames from salvaged wood, considering them as important to the artwork as the pieces themselves.

This show will be up January 9th through February 8th, so plan a time that you can come and enjoy picking out the perfect piece to take home!
