Wetland Treasure Tour: Holly Shelter Game Land

Join us for a follow-the-leader driving tour of various wetland habitats that comprise the Holly Shelter Game Land. Learn about efforts to improve and restore the natural hydrology to more than 17,235 acres - it is the largest project of its kind in the world.

Meeting Location: The initial meeting site is the Holly Shelter Boating Access Area located at 7271 Shaw Highway (34.548393, -77.816052).

Tour will last approximate 2 hours and is guided by Holly Shelter Game Land biologists Richard Clark and Alexander Parker. The tour format is a follow-the-leader driving tour with stops at several locations within the game land. The roadway surface is well-maintained dirt.

A $10 tax-deductible donation to the Carolina Wetlands Association is suggested and can be donated on the day of the field trip. You may also contribute to Carolina Wetlands Association donation page.

It is recommended that participants bring water, snacks, binoculars (optional) and come prepared for any weather.
