“News Engagement in the Digital Age: Dealing with Misinformation” – A Workshop with Judith Rosenbaum

In recent years, determining the reliability of news and information has become increasingly challenging. While misinformation has become more common, claims of “fake news” are often tied to personal preferences rather than an informed assessment of the news story. How can you determine the reliability of news content? And why is it so easy to fall for misinformation? How can you remain an informed citizen without becoming overwhelmed? Join Judith Rosenbaum, Professor in the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine, for an interactive workshop where we will explore these questions and critically examine news and misinformation.

Judith E. Rosenbaum (PhD, Radboud University Nijmegen) conducts research focused on understanding how people actively use media content in their daily lives and how this usage is related to their identities, relationships, and perceptions of reality. She is Professor of Media Studies and Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism at the University of Maine, USA. Her work has appeared in publications such as Media Psychology, Communication Research, Psychology of Popular Media Culture, Communication Teacher, and Journal of Media Psychology.
