Rockford Dev November Meetup - Playing Auto Traffic Control

The Rockford Dev November Meetup is just around the corner! The month's event will take place on Wednesday, November 19th, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Maker Lab in the Rockford Public Library.

Jdno, a Dutch software developer, released a programming-based game called Auto Traffic Control. ATC players need to create a client program that receives an event stream of the game world and issue commands to route airplanes to their corresponding airport. The game, while reminiscent of Zachtronics games or Elevator Saga, does not succeed as well as those do. This session documents Nicholas Prado-Hiss' unsuccessful efforts to navigate the limitations, intentional and otherwise, of ATC. This provides a venue for discussing topics from the Rust build system to puzzle design.
