Jeff and Brian Becker are co-authors of Tender Lions: Building the Vital Relationship Between Father and Son
Jeff Becker is a nationally recognized mental performance coach—and not the kind who just yells motivational quotes from the sidelines. As founder of Jeff Becker Mental Performance Coaching, he works, primarily, with elite athletes and teams (and occasional corporate leaders) to build the mindset, habits, and grit needed to succeed at the highest levels. For over a decade he also served as National Lead Coach for the CP3 Camps (yes, that would be Chris Paul for you NBA fans). Beyond performance, Jeff uses basketball as a vehicle to teach life skills like character, discipline, and integrity to young men and women. His clients range from MLB players and PGA pros to college standouts from powerhouses like Stanford, Arizona, TCU and Kansas. His coaching career started early—he launched his first basketball camp in 7th grade at Grace Lutheran School in suburban Chicago. He also played for Augustana College – Rock Island, one of the winningest Division III basketball programs in the country. Jeff lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Brooke and their two young “Tender Lions” sons.
Brian Becker is a leadership coach, strategy consultant, and nonprofit whisperer. His company, Leaders Edge, helps mission-driven organizations build stronger boards, healthier cultures, and rock-solid strategic plans. Some of his clients have been the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Joint Commission, BraveHearts, Catholic Theological Union, and the Association for Christian Fundraising. With over 1,000 presentations under his belt, Brian has spoken across the U.S. and abroad—Canada, England, Singapore, the Middle East, and South America—on how to lead with clarity, trust, and impact. Most important to Brian: he’s been a husband for 42 years, a proud dad, and an even prouder grandfather. When they're not coaching, consulting, or parenting, Jeff and Brian will go almost anywhere they’re invited (and a few places they weren’t) to speak about the power of father-son relationships. Their personal journey and research led to the highly acclaimed book Tender Lions, equipping fathers and sons with hope, humor, and a much-needed roadmap for connection. They’ll be the first to tell you—it’s never too late to take the first step in the right direction.
