NCCWP MONTHLY MEETING

Reminder! Upcoming North Coast Communities for Watershed Protection monthly community meeting on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary by the Sea Parish Hall in Rockaway Beach. Everyone is invited.

Items on the agenda include:

1. Good news for our wetlands! Oregon Shores, represented by the Crag Law Center, successfully appealed to the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) the decision by the City of Rockaway Beach approving the proposed Nedonna Wave planned unit development. LUBA has remanded this issue back to the City. What are next steps to protect wetlands and the drinking water aquifer at Nedonna Beach?

2.Discussion regarding the current methods which are used to determine where logging and pesticide applications are planned, as well as how to improve that communication to impacted property owners and communities. What are the next steps to end pesticide exposure in our communities?

NCCWP wants no more logging and pesticide use in community water sources regardless of who owns the land, and it wants an end to pesticide applications near where people live, work and recreate. Safe drinking water and clean air are part of the public trust that we all are entitled to have.
