We are delighted to announce that Ringu Tulku Rinpoche will be visiting us here again in Rochester this summer, and will inaugurate the new Bodhicharya UK Centre by providing two evenings of Dharma talks.
This will be a ticketed event due to limited capacity at the venue so pre-booking is essential.
Teaching Topic: Outer, Inner and Secret Refuge
As Rinpoche will be here to open Bodhicharya UK’s and Medway’s first designated Buddhist Centre, we thought it appropriate to request Rinpoche to share a teaching on Buddhist Refuge.
So please join us for a teaching on the profound practice of taking Refuge, a foundational step on the Buddhist path. In the Tibetan tradition, refuge is understood on three levels: outer, inner, and secret. Outer refuge is placing our trust in the Three Jewels of Buddha (the teacher and inspiration), the Dharma (the teachings), and the Sangha (the spiritual community) as reliable guides. Inner refuge refers to connecting with our own inner potential for awakening – our true nature that reflects the enlightened qualities of wisdom and compassion. Secret refuge points to the ultimate nature of mind itself, beyond concepts and duality. This teaching will explore how these levels of refuge support us in cultivating peace, clarity, and a deep sense of spiritual direction in our lives.
