Curious about preserving your garden harvest or reducing food waste at home? Join us at One Straw's Tiny Farm Kitchen for a hands-on introduction to dehydrating! You'll learn the why's, how to's, and practicalities of one of the most ancient, low tech, food preservation techniques in the world.
We'll cover choosing the right equipment, preparing fruits, veggies, and herbs for drying, and storage techniques to maintain flavor and nutrition.
Whether you're a home cook, gardener,or just interested in sustainable food practices - you'll leave with the all the info you need to start dehydrating at home.

Instructor: Stephanie Grindon, BioScapes Gardening
Stephanie Grindon has been gardening, farming, and landscaping with BioScapes Gardening on the Coast for almost 30 years. She has led similar workshops from seed planting to canning with One Straw, B&K Landscaping, and at the Gibsons Library. She has a degree from SFU, a couple of Permaculture and Advanced Permaculture Design Certificates, and some Landscape Deigns courses from Guelph University. She has been involved with One Straw since 1996 and lives in Bonniebrook and on Gambier Island with her family and a few chickens.
