Thursday Night Music at Rockfish: IréSon
We’re warming up the weekend with some more great music Thursday, January 15th from 6-9pm!
Iré means “blessing” in Yoruba and Son refers to Son Cubano, a genre of music and dance that originated in the highlands of eastern Cuba during the late 19th century. It is a syncretic genre that blends elements of Spanish and African origin.
Inspired by bands like Irakere, The Fort Apache Band, Butcher Brown, Snarky Puppy, and The Bad Plus, IréSon mixes the very best of soul, funk, jazz, traditional Cuban rhythms, and more for a night of music you don’t want to miss!
Enjoy Joel Stopka on trombone & percussion, Jamiel Allen on keys & vocals, Vladimir Espinosa on congas & vocals, Sam Lunsford on drums, Willis Greenstreet on sax, and Brian Mesko on bass.
Grab your friends and get ready to dance with IréSon!
