When you dance with intention, in touch with your true self, you allow a free flow of energy in your body, and become a bridge between the heavens and the Earth. Join with fellow dancers-at-heart as we tap into our inner knowing and collectively reclaim the lost art of ceremonial dancing.
Areas we'll cover in this workshop with ritual performance artist Clarissa Rae include:
-Intuitive and somatic techniques for moving your body and energy
-Intention-setting and magickal mindset, to give your dance a higher purpose
-Ecstatic and trance states, and how they contribute to healing
-Fire/drum circle etiquette and safety
-Tuning into and enhancing the collective energy of the circle
-How to use vocal sounding, small percussions, and melodic instruments in the context of a drum circle
We'll finish up our time together with an ecstatic dance session, where you can let loose and express yourself through movement, while applying/embodying concepts we’ve learned and discussed.
The format will be part presentation and part discussion, and there will be opportunities to share your own stories, feelings, and experiences pertaining to the sacred art of ritual dance.
Note: There will be no fire or live drums during this workshop, but I will share multiple opportunities for dancing with live drum circles, with and without central fires - including one coming up on Friday July 18th.
YOU MAY LOVE THIS WORKSHOP IF:
-You feel the call of the drums deep within, and your body can't help but to carry you toward the sound
-You've been naturally movement-oriented since you were a kid - this could be anything ranging from involvement in dance and sports, to boppin' to the beat all day, to more subtle motions like tapping your fingers and other so-called "fidgets"
-You've felt scared to enter the dance ring at a fire circle (I've been there!), or have danced but felt like you could be doing more with the experience, and want to figure out how
-You've had amazing experiences with dancing to drums, and would love to swap stories and ideas with others who understand the magick
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:
Clarissa Rae of Divine Touch Healing Arts is a master energyworker who brings her understanding of etheric fields and energy flow into all of her creative work. “I’ve been a dancer my whole life. Ballet was my passion as a kid and teenager, and I also spent countless hours rocking out in my bedroom alone singing, dancing, moving in various ways. By the time I was in my 20s, I had become very inhibited, and found that I only danced when I was drunk at a club. One night at a festival, I found myself at drum circle, watching people dance in the inner circle - they were so liberated, so free. I knew, in the depths of my heart and soul, that I was one of them – but crippling anxiety left me on the outskirts of the circle, yearning to be one with my soul siblings and natural self. I knew I was meant to be in there dancing, but something held me back. 5 years and a lot of deep healing work later, I again found myself at a drum circle. This time, my inner Goddess was fully released, and I reclaimed intuitive movement magick that I have embodied over many lifetimes. After a decade of ritual, shamanic, and ceremonial dancing, last summer my spirit guides easefully channeled this ceremonial dance workshop into my journal. I know it is now time to spread what I have learned. I am honored to bring you this ceremonial dance workshop, that you too may embody your inner Divinity through dance, and harness its healing and magick to initiate profound growth in your life.”
REGISTER IN ADVANCE:
This workshop is open to all genders, age 16+. The cost is $40, which goes toward compensating the facilitator, necessary supplies, and venue rental. There will be a limit of 8 participants, so please register in advance to reserve your spot.
